Watch for the brown highway sign marking the westbound turn onto an unnamed road to the Northwest Water Treatment Plant. Location: Trailhead is located three miles north of I-44, off of Highway 13 (called Kansas Expressway in town), in northwest Springfield. The perimeter trail is about 2 miles, and a cell phone tower marks the northeast corner of the perimeter. Built by volunteers in 1996, it’s popular with mountain bikers from beginner to advanced, and for trail running and hiking too.
